Multiplication
Multiplying a D-Group can be a challenging—or even emotional—process.
We’ve created this page to help you do it well with
D-Group Core Value #5 in mind:
“Live Beyond Yourself”.
We’ve built out an email template you can use as a helpful resource!
Here’s how to use it:
1. Copy and paste this template into an email to your members.
2. Put their email addresses in the “BCC” (blind carbon copy) section of your email address, so that their responses will only come to YOU, not everyone (that could be really problematic or even hurtful, depending on their responses).
3. Set a response date that is at least 2 weeks prior to the Launch date.
4. Sign it from ALL Leaders involved (Leaders and Co-Leaders) in order to help promote unity.
5. Evaluate their response with the help of your Co-Leader, then make a plan for moving forward.
If you need help in this process, don’t hesitate to reach out to your Upper Leadership!
Once my group multiplies, am I still responsible for the new Leader and members of their group?
As mentioned in the video, you can absolutely keep encouraging and caring for them! However, once they've completed the multiplication process, you can be confident that they're fully equipped to lead and won't require you to step in spiritually, administratively, or otherwise. Check-ins will happen through the Regional Leader assigned to them, and you're truly freed up to pursue the depth that your now-smaller group can achieve!
Is it okay if my group is "XL" for a session before it multiplies?
We understand that for many reasons, a group can experience explosive growth before you have a multiplication Leader in place. This is why we encourage every Leader to have multiplication in mind WELL before you think your group needs it, because this type of growth often occurs unexpectedly! If you find yourself beyond the 12 member (plus you = 13) cap, you may ONLY proceed if you contact Jane with a firm plan and new Leader in place to multiply the very next session. We've been delighted to see that this is EXACTLY what Leaders have already been doing when faced with this situation! This one extra step will allow for greater accountability and we can continue supporting you as you navigate multiplication.
I'm an online Leader and I'm always having to turn people away! What do I do?
In addition to having a multiplication plan, contact our Online Leader Fellow who can help with suggestions to facilitate the process for potential members to join a different group if yours is full.
